Who Is An Eligible New Customer?
As compared to most other banks in Singapore, UOB defines a new customer as someone who is not an existing UOB Principal Credit Cardholder and have not terminated your principal UOB credit card in the last 6 months for the purpose of this promotion. Additionally, you will need to be amongst the first 50 successful applicants each day (between 26 May to 01 June) to be eligible for the 100% rebate on recurring bills. If you are one of the first 50 successful applicants but you are still a new-to-card customer (i.e. 51st customer onwards each day), here’s what you will get if you apply during the promotional period:
UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card - get S$100 back for making a minimum of 5 eligible transactions in the first month of card approval
UOB One Card - S$50 cash reward (transferred into your bank account via PayNow)
How To Enjoy 100% Rebate on Recurring Bills?
The 100% rebate on recurring bills (capped at S$300) will be offered on the first three qualifying transactions made with the same selected merchant and the first transaction must be charged to the card by 31 July 2020. The 100% rebate will be capped at S$300 so if you only spend a total of S$100 across three months at that same merchant, you will receive S$100 cash rebate only. Conversely, if you were to spend say S$600 across the selected merchant across three months, you will only receive a S$300 cash rebate.
There is no way to manually select the merchant and UOB will simply take the first qualifying transaction at any selected merchants as your selection - this means to say you should definitely use the card at the merchant where you know you will clock significant spend (e.g. for utilities if you spend S$100 each month and not for Amazon Prime). In fact, to be absolutely prudent, I would highly recommend that you use this card for just one of the aforementioned merchants unless you are certain of the transaction and posting dates. This 100% cash rebate will be awarded on top of the card's base earn rate (be it miles or cashback) to eligible new customers and it will be credited into your card account by 31 December 2020.
Which Card to Apply For?
For the purpose of this promotion, you can either apply for the UOB PRVI Miles American Express Card or the UOB One Card so it definitely boils down to whether you are a miles-chaser or a cashback-lover.
