Lounge Review: Emirates Lounge (2016) at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport
I checked out the previous Emirates Lounge at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport back in 2014 when I visited the city for a friend's wedding. While the lounge had a great selection of food and drinks, the overall decor was tired and in need of a refresh. When I visited Melbourne city again this April (2016), I have had the pleasure of visiting the Emirates Lounge once again (without knowing it was refurbished) and I was pleasantly surprised by the changes.
The first thing you will notice as you walk into the new Emirates Lounge is how modern everything looks (especially if you have been to the previous one). There are various seat configurations that cater to different traveling parties but if you are looking for the best seats (with a view to boot), carry on walking to get to the main area.
I love how they have managed to create such a great sense of space with the new Emirates Lounge at the Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. Just as a kind reminder, the Emirates Lounge is open to top-tier Skywards frequent flyer members as well as first class and business class guests. Elite status holders of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program that are booked onto an EK or QF flight will also be able to use this lounge.
There are a handful of seats that faces the runway directly and they are probably the most sought-after so try to get them while you are there! Since there are a number of A380 services that leave Melbourne, the Emirates Lounge can get pretty crowded.
The food selection at the Emirates Lounge is really quite impressive - you'll find a good selection of hot and cold dishes (even a rack of lamb!).
Select from a variety of cheeses and salads from the cold station - just remember to save room for dessert!
