Lounge Review: EVA Air Lounge (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport)
Like most Singaporeans, I travel to Bangkok quite a fair number of times a year (mainly the weekends) and since I have Star Alliance Gold, I tend to spend most of my time in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport in either the Thai Airways Lounge or the SilverKris Lounge. Since I had some time to kill during my latest trip from Bangkok to Singapore, I decided to check out the newest Star Alliance Lounge in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport - the EVA Air Lounge - which is the best airport lounge Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport has seen so far!
If the video (which I actually uploaded on Instagram) has got you interested, read on to find out why this lounge is the best lounge in the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport!
A new airport lounge is always a great idea and as a frequent traveller you should know that it is incredibly rare to find an airport lounge that is empty - the EVA Air Lounge is exactly the way it looks in the picture - maybe I was lucky or maybe not many people know about the lounge but whatever it is, I can't complain. There really is nothing like a peaceful airport lounge that serves up delicious food, high-speed internet and plenty of drinks!
The EVA Air Lounge which I had access to due to my Star Alliance Gold status (even though I was flying on Singapore Airlines) has a TRON-like feel to it. There is also plenty of seats and different configurations that will cater to different traveling groups (even though most of them were for two).
Some parts of the lounge looks a lot more 'Taiwanese' than the rest but overall, I think the lounge gives off a very fresh vibe that is highly-welcomed since the Thai and SilverKris lounges are both pretty tired looking - I do love the latter lounge too though!
Complimentary high-speed WiFi is provided here (access code can be obtained at the front desk) but if you are looking for something to read, the EVA Air Lounge is stocked with a wide selection of newspapers and international magazines.
The food at the EVA Air Lounge has got to be the lounge's greatest strength. Serving up a pretty generous (and decent-tasting) selection of hot foods, I could not get past how great some of them taste. The Pad See Ew for example, was quite the winning dish!
While I was there, the EVA Air Lounge also served up a really delicious Winter Melon Soup with Chicken that my parents would approve - I ended up having two bowls (with plenty of extra ingredients) all to myself. There is also a localised Thai Spicy Shrimp Soup (Tom Yum Goong) that was available.
If you still aren't satisfied, there EVA Air Lounge also serves up delicious dim sums, pastries, hot dogs, pizzas and even a really delicious red curry (which looks horrible on photo). This lounge right here is worth arriving at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport an hour early. Seriously, it is that impressive!
For desserts, there was a selection of Swensen's ice-creams, some cakes in the fridge and a bunch of other snacks (like Oreos!). The lounge also had a healthy selection of liquor and a draft beer on tap.
While I visit airport lounges quite a bit (almost every time I travel), I am usually not motivated enough to take photos and write trip reports. Perhaps I was lucky enough that the EVA Air Lounge was empty the time I visited but this is definitely my favourite airport lounge at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and I can't wait for my next Star Alliance flight into BKK - until then!
The Travel Club Lounge in the Satellite Terminal of KLIA might be a good spot to work before your flight, but the subpar food and beverage offerings make it a poor choice for those seeking quality refreshments.
