Marriott Bonvoy to Introduce Flexible Point Redemptions from 29 March 2022 - Dynamic Pricing and Removal of Award Charts
Marriott Bonvoy will be introducing Flexible Point Redemptions from 29 March 2022 and it will replace the existing off-peak, standard, and peak rates for all properties. With the new system, the number of required points per night will move closely with hotel rates and availability which means you may require more and fewer points depending on the expected demand during the dates of travel.

Marriott Bonvoy members will continue to earn points in the same fashion but they will have more flexibility when they redeem and explore the portfolio. According to the media alert sent out by Marriott Bonvoy, nearly all hotel redemption rates will fall within the same high low range of the current categories. Point redemption rates may rise above the current Category 8 rates for approximately 40 properties during peak periods.
Approximately 200 hotels (less than 3% of the Marriott International portfolio) will see an increase in the point redemption rate bounds - this means that the maximum number of points required will be higher than where they are currently. In Singapore, the Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection is the only property on this list. According to the list of properties published by Marriott Bonvoy, hotels will see the minimum and maximum point increases of the following, depending on the actual property:
±5,000 Points
±10,000 Points
±20,000 Points
±30,000 Points
To put this into an example, the Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection is a Category 5 property and currently requires the following number of Marriott Bonvoy points:
Off-peak: 30,000 Points
Standard: 35,000 Points
Peak: 40,000 Points
With Flexible Point Redemptions, Marriott Bonvoy states that the minimum and maximum points for the Duxton Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection may increase by up to 20,000 points - this means that a free night may require anywhere between 30,000 and 60,000 points under the new system. If you are sitting on a large number of Marriott Bonvoy points, it is a great idea to lock in those stays under the current award chart as you can easily cancel them and rebook them should the new rates be in your favour.
In addition to announcing the date for Flexible Point Redemptions, Marriott International is also alerting that in late April members will be able to combine their Free Night Award with up to 15,000 points to help access more hotels. Members can reserve a redemption stay by booking now and the flexible cancellation policy will allow them to modify their reservation if they find a lower rate in the future.
