Marriott Bonvoy to Reduce F&B and Spa Earn Rate for Non-Staying Guests from 01 November 2023
Marriott Bonvoy members have been able to earn points on eligible spend across all participating hotel spas, restaurants and bars regardless of whether they are staying at the hotel or not - from 01 November 2023, the earn rate will drop by 50% from 10 points per USD to 5 points per USD with two caveats: members will earn points on the total check (including taxes, service charges, and gratuities) and there will no longer be a minimum spend requirement (previously USD 10).
Do note that this change will only affect point-earning for non-staying hotel guests - charging the bill to your room will allow you to earn up to 17.5 points per USD (in accordance to the Marriott Bonvoy program) if you have Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite status in the program. This adjusted earn rate will take effect at 12:00 AM Hong Kong time on 01 November 2023.
Even though Marriott Bonvoy members will soon be able to earn points on the total bill (including applicable taxes), this change is ultimately a negative one as most, if not all members, will earn less points than before. If you are based are in Singapore, do remember that the UOB Lady's Card will allow you to earn up to 30 miles per S$5 (equivalent to 6 miles per S$1) on all eligible travel spend if that is your selected category for the quarter.
